Here's a wee guide how to change the rear discs and pads on newage car.

1. Slacken the wheel nuts
2. Jack the car up without the handbrake on; make sure the car can't roll forward.
3. Remove wheel
4. There are two small steel angled R-clips, remove with pliers

5. Remove the two retaining pins that hold the pads in, they slide from the outside of the caliper inwards towards the strut. You might have to tap the end of the pin with a hammer or use pliers to pull them free.

6. When removed you can take the steel cross pad retainer out which will allow access to the pads.
7. Push the pistons back to remove the pads.
Front Pad being removed.

Rear pad being removed.

8. Take note of how the anti-squeal shim is positioned, so that when you fit the new pads it’s in the correct position.
9. Once the pads are out you need to remove the caliper from the car and this is done by unscrewing the 2 bolts on the inside of the wheel arch that hold them on to the rear hub. (17mm)

10. There is a small grommet on the back of disc plate, remove this, this will allow you to wind back the handbrake shoes to allow the disc to be removed. To slacken the handbrake you turn the adjuster downwards.

11. The disc can now be removed, screw two 6mm bolts into the threaded holes equally, this will pull the disc off.

12. Clean the hub

13. Clean the caliper

14. Fit the new disc

15. Bolt the caliper back into place

16. Copper slip the shim on the new pads as well as the top and bottom edge so that is slides easy into position in the caliper.

17. Shove the piston back using a spanner or screw driver, do one side and insert the pad then do the other side. When pads are in refit the retaining pins.

18. Next is the large flat sprung plate that sits across them which is held in place by the 2 retaining pins. Push the 2 steel R-clips back on making sure they are orientated correctly.

19. Put the wheel on and torque the nuts.

20. Adjust the handbrake shoes through the slot on the back of hub.
21. Repeat the above on the other side.
22. Take the car of the jacks, press the foot brake a couple of times before moving the car, test drive.
Job done thumright

The handbrake might have to be adjusted.
